Home Care

Home care is a variety of support services designed to help an individual maintain or restore health, well-being and independence. Home care services range from minimal support, (i.e. weekly visits to maintain medications), to 24 hour a day Dependent Care for individuals who are unable to be left at home alone.

Home care services generally fall into two categories, non-medial support services and medical skilled care.

CAI provides non-medical support services that are focused on assistance with general activities of daily living (i.e. shopping, meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry, transportation, assistance with pets), and personal care (i.e. bathing, dressing, feeding, medication set up, physical transferring, health monitoring).  All services are delivered under the direction of our managed care team, which consists of a Service Coordinator, Registered Nurse Supervisor, and Social Worker.

Skilled care is given under the general direction of a physician and consists of specific short-term medical services.  Services are commonly delivered following hospitalization or discharge from a rehab facility.  Skilled care services are typically delivered by nurses, physician's assistants, certified nursing assistants, occupational therapists, physical therapist, etc.  To qualify for insurance reimbursement, specific health and functional criteria is required.

Support services can be provided as an adjunct to skilled care.  Because of insurance reimbursement guidelines, many skilled care agencies are unable to address basic daily living tasks.  Those that do, generally deliver services under a separate program at a cost that exceeds that of agencies delivering only non-medical support services.

Support services can also be purchased to supplement the care delivered in nursing homes, rehab and long term care facilities.  Such an arrangement greatly enhances the resident's quality of life and provides relief to a family that is unable to maintain weekly personal contact.

We encourage individuals to contract our services department to discuss their needs and learn how to address their needs while maximizing resources.
